Transportation

The most common forms of transportation in Quito are public buses, taxis, and private ride-sharing services. You can also take a cable car up to the old city or catch the trole (tram) up to the north or south of the city. There is also a metro system, which is still in the early phases of construction.

The time you spend in Quito will depend on your travel plans. Generally, travelers will spend at least three days in the city to allow enough time to explore the main sites. In addition to the iconic sites, Quito offers a variety of outdoor activities, cultural experiences, and nightlife for those with more time. Time to visit

The best time to visit Quito is during early spring (mid-March to mid-April) and autumn (mid-September to mid-November). These months are the most pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 26 degrees Celsius, and with clear, sunny days and cooler nights. However, it is important to take into account that the city is situated in a mountain valley, so weather can change quickly and temperatures may be cooler at night.

Weather

Quito has a subtropical highland climate with two distinct seasons. The dry season lasts from June to September and the wet season from October to May. The temperatures in Quito range from the high 30s (Celsius) during the day to the low 10s during the night. The annual rainfall averages about 1,000mm (40 inches).
