Transportation
The main forms of public transportation in Cairo are bus, minibus, metro and taxis. Cairo also has an app-based taxi service (Careem), a Ferario shuttles offering boat transport on the Nile and a tram. Other options include service taxis, shared cars (‘servees’), tuk-tuks, microbuses and rickshaws.

Time to spend
There is so much to see and do in Cairo, so it really depends on how long you have to spend. It would be great to spend at least three days or more in order to really experience the city and all its sights. If you are short on time, even one day can be enough to get a feel for the culture, history and vibrancy that Cairo has to offer.
Time to visit
The best time to visit Cairo is during the cooler winter months, from November to April. Temperatures during these months are much more comfortable, ranging from highs of 19°C - 22°C (66°F - 72°F) in the winter months, and slightly higher during the spring months. Summer temperatures can get into the 40s, making it difficult to enjoy outdoor activities.
Weather
Cairo has a hot desert climate, with hot, dry summers and mild to cool, wet winters. The average temperature in the summer months (June to August) is around 35-40°C (95-104°F), while in the winter months (December to February) it is around 15-20°C (59-68°F).
Rainfall is relatively scarce in Cairo, with most precipitation falling between November and April in the form of occasional showers and thunderstorms. The city is also known for its high levels of air pollution, which can be especially pronounced in the summer months when high temperatures and low winds can trap pollutants in the air.
Regardless of the time of year, visitors to Cairo should be prepared for hot, sunny weather, and be sure to bring plenty of sunscreens, a hat, and a refillable water bottle. The city is a fascinating destination, with a rich cultural heritage, stunning architecture, and vibrant arts and food scenes, and is well worth a visit at any time of year.
